Lower Right Abdominal Pain
by Jo Anderson
(Jacksonville, Fla)
I have been having lower right side abdominal pain, which is very severe at night and travels to lower back. The pain is so bad that It make me feel like I am dying when I walk or try to move, after going to bed at night. I have had my appendics remove and I have a partial hysterectomy, I have a history of bowel obstruction.
Hi Ms Jo Anderson,
It certainly sounds like you are in a lot of pain!
How long has this lower right side abdominal pain been going on for? Is there any other associated symptoms like nausea or indeed vomiting? Do you feel bloated? Are you opening your bowels normally?
I am concerned that you are experiencing this level of pain, described as making you "feel like I am dying". I am also concerned, because you have had major surgery in the past, with a history of bowel obstruction. How old are you, if you don't mind? Is there any weight loss? What is the colour of your stool? What about your appetite?
If your symptoms have not resolved by now, please make your way to the ER. There is a high chance that this may be a case of sub-acute bowel obstruction from adhesion from your previous surgery.
It is also important to exclude ovarian problem or diverticular disease.
I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
