My experience with Epiploic Appendagitis

Early August 2010 I developed sudden Lower Left abdominal pain, had a CT scan, and was diagnosed with Epiploic Appendagitis.
My doctor of 30 years, who has had many patients thru the years, said I am only the 2nd patient on whom he has found this ailment.
The Radiologist reported "at least 3 inflamed appearing fat globules adjacent to the sigmoid colon". There was no treatment necessary and the pain, which I would not consider severe at any time, was gone within 2 weeks.
Now in 2015, I am researching my new diagnosis of Autoimmune Thyroiditis and wonder if this occurrence could be a trigger for my current condition?
