Severe pain in left side....WHY?

I am a 53 year old female with severe pain in my left side. I have been diagnosed with fourth stage kidney disease. My doctor says that it does not cause my pain. S o why do I hurt so bad that I cannot even get comfortable while laying or standing because my pain is so severe?

I can see your concern as to why you continue to have severe left sided pain.

I completely agree with your doctor. CKD (chronic kidney disease) in it self does not cause pain. May I ask you a few questions to help signpost me in the right direction as to what might be causing your left side pain?

Where exactly on your left side is this pain?
How long ago exactly did it start and how has it been since then?
Does the pain spread to any where else?
What makes it worse if anything?
Do you have any other associated symptoms like feeling unwell, or nausea or vomiting? Any feeling of bloating?
Has there been any change in your bowel habit lately?
What about your appetite? Have you had any un-intended weight loss?

Answers to these questions will help shed more light on things for us. In the mean time, should your pain be more severe, please why not re-visit your doctor for continued re-evaluation?
